In addition to Conventional Public and subsidized Section 8 programs, RIHA offers several special needs housing
opportunities.

Douglas Park Place
Located in the New Old Chicago redevelopment area, Douglas Park Place was designed to serve women coming out of
intense substance abuse treatment programs. The 8-unit, rental development provides a supportive environment,
workforce counseling and a myriad of other services focused on transitioning participants back into the community.
A resident professional provides on-going substance abuse counseling. The facility serves between 16 and 20
households per year with an average stay of approximately six months.

Cascade Garden
Cascade Garden is a 70-unit facility that provides affordable housing to the general public, however, preference
will be given to households that include a person with a disability.
Cascade Garden was designed and constructed to meet special needs including wheelchair access, ramps, wider doorways,
lower cabinets and roll-in showers in some units. The goals of the project are to meet the needs of persons with
disabilities by: (1) removing the barriers to community living, (2) providing quality safe, affordable housing and
(3) providing the case management, support services and activities required for long-term success.
